Obituary

Victor Alvarez was born August 20, 1961 in El Control, Tamaulipas, Mexico. His parents were José Alvarez Encinia and Beatriz González Ramirez. His siblings are Pedro, Hermina, Carmen, Juan, Betty, and Gloria. He is the second member of his family to leave this earth, and has reunited with his mother, Beatriz.

While growing up in Mexico, Victor frequently traveled to Texas and always dreamed of living in the United States. At the young age of 22 he independently moved to Houston, TX and assilamated seamlessly into his surroundings. As he manifested a new life for himself, Victor socialized well in a variety of spaces and enjoyed life to the fullest. In 1986 he met Sanita Lee, a Hong Kong born Chinese woman. After 6 years of marriage, they had their first child, Vivianna and 3 years later, their second child, Nicole. In 2013, he welcomed the birth of his third daughter, Maya, who revived his inner child and kept him young. Victor protruded tremendous pride in his multicultural family and enjoyed experiencing cross-cultural exchanges.

Coupled with his curiosity of life was his passion for leadership. After working at Memorial Hermann Hospitals for over a decade, he pursued his life long dream of becoming an entrepreneur and established Promoting Your Business and You, in which he offered business consultations. For over 15 years, Victor contributed a significant amount of knowledge and guidance to various small businesses across Texas, California, and Mexico. In addition to supporting entrepreneurs, he valued education and shared his expertise through the Houston Community Colleges system and additional professional development spaces and organizations. Victor was a lifelong learner and made it his life's purpose to propel people pursuing their own aspirations. He was a mentor, coach, and friend to many. In his free time he could be found reading, enjoying long walks by the water, and talking someone's ear off at a party.

Loved ones and community members uplift Victor in prayer that he’s in a better place. May he be at peace knowing his legacy touched many and he will always be remembered for his strength, humor, and impact.
